Vivienne Westwood sat down on Good Morning Britain this weekend to talk climate change and had some sharp words for America's President. As a reminder of the modern nightmare we're living in, Trump just recently announced his intention to pull out of the Paris Climate Agreement, which involved almost 200 of the world's nations commiting to reduce carbon emissions by 1.6 billion tons by 2025.
"It's a terrible disaster what's happened if Trump is going as far as this," Westwood said. "You know, America, the most important country in the world with the most powerful propaganda machine ever, and he is stopping the clock, so that any progress made in cutting pollution is now cut back - meanwhile, he is working for the fossil fuel industry."
Westwood has secured her spot as the coolest veteran designer in the ring with her outspoken advocacy against climate change, and her site Climate Revolution.
"What we need to do is change to a green economy. And I've started a thing to change, and I'd love to tell you about it."
"We haven't got the time, Vivienne," an anchor responds.
"Switch to green energy. And we're going to get half of the country to do it in three years, starting with the fashion industry. Britain must lead the way if America is going backwards. The whole world is going forward - he's stopping the clock and going backwards."
Despite Trump's Paris decision, the governors of California, Washington, New York, Massachusetts, Vermont, Connecticut and Rhode Island, as well as 30 CEOs of major companies, including 3M, Bank of America and Campbell Soup, have all pledged to continue the plans laid out in the Paris Accord. Both Massachusetts and Vermont's governors are Republican.
