After tweeting that CNN is a "major source of (Fake) news" and that "they represent our Nation to the WORLD very poorly" over the weekend, Trump has now tweeted this morning calling for an awards show honoring the "most dishonest, corrupt" news source out there, and he's excluded Fox News from eligibility. Take a look (this is real):
Trump's tweet at CNN was met with a sharp response from the international news network:
It's interesting that Trump is attempting to paint America's leading news networks as liars when he's currently wrapped himself up in his own web of falsehoods. Over the weekend, a New York Timesstory revealed Trump now denies that it was his voice in the infamous Access Hollywood tape that aired last fall. To recap, the tape had audio of Trump bragging to TV host Billy Bush about groping women, and he admitted the recording was him at the time of its publication. Since the tape's publication, Trump has been accused of sexual assault by several women, New Yorkmagazine reports.
The news comes folded into a story about Trump's support of Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore, who has been accused by six women of pursuing them romantically when they were teenagers, and by two of sexual assault. Moore's rival for the seat is Doug Jones. The Timeswrote:
"But something deeper has been consuming Mr. Trump. He sees the calls for Mr. Moore to step aside as a version of the response to the now-famous "Access Hollywood" tape, in which he boasted about grabbing women's genitalia, and the flood of groping accusations against him that followed soon after. He suggested to a senator earlier this year that it was not authentic, and repeated that claim to an adviser more recently. (In the hours after it was revealed in October 2016, Mr. Trump acknowledged that the voice was his, and he apologized.)"
