Following the British high court's decision that U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May requires Parliament's approval before she can formally begin the process to leave the European Union, conservative British newspaper The Daily Mail published a story about the judges involved in the decision.
The headline, meant to put the judges in a bad light, used "openly gay" as an insult. It read, "The judges who blocked Brexit: One founded a EUROPEAN law group, another charged the taxpayer millions for advice and the third is an openly gay ex-Olympic fencer." Though The Daily Mail has since changed the headline, many have taken to Twitter with screenshots of the inflammatory statement to criticize the publication, including J.K. Rowling.
The Harry Potter author's response blew up, reaching over 17,000 retweets and 35,000 likes.
