"My music should be an honest experience in sound and emotion, simple, without hiding behind anything."

After releasing his 2014 breakout EP, I Am Not Hugo, queer producer/songwriter HUGOwho embarked on a three-year journey across London, Berlin and Switzerland on a quest for "inspiration, personal discovery and self-reflection." Now with a fresh perspective and London home base, the 28-year-old returns today with his Another EP, taking a raw, confrontational look at life and love across four spacious, synth-pop tracks.

"My music should be an honest experience in sound and emotion, simple, without hiding behind anything," HUGOwho says of Another. "I really just got crazy with my vision and my emotions. My life changed a lot since I moved to London because all of the sudden I was alone, disconnected, but it made me feel and think a lot about myself and my music. It's not about playing some crazy chords and be like super fancy about it. I want my music to be simple and powerful. in order that as many people can relate to the feeling."

On "Heartless Beat (Intro)," HUGOwho's thick vocals slide effortlessly above slick, metallic production, as he repeatedly asks to "see your heartbeat." The tempo begins building through "Holding On," with its driving R&B tinge and spacey chorus, while HUGOwho's title track, "Another," revels in syrupy dream-pop before breaking into a bouncy electronic finale. Another's closer, "Paradise," is the most existential of the four, begging the question, "What is paradise?" above manic production on the brink of a psychotic break.
