"Y'all better scrub y'all boochie real good for this one."
After proving she's a drag superstar by landing in the top four of Drag Race, Chicago's own Shea Coulee asserted herself as a promising musical artist with a Beyonce-style surprise drop of three new songs and music videos. Lifted off her forthcoming Coulee-D EP, the performer shared "Ride," "Cocky" and "Feeling So," unleashing a fierce rap flow many rightfully compared to Azealia Banks. Now, the two have announced they'll join forces to create a new track. "It's happening," Banks teased on Instagram, sending fans into a fury.

The collaboration is fitting, considering Coulee has performed Banks numbers in the past, including "Van Vogue" off the rapper's 1991 EP. "I also forgot to mention that in two days, I go into the studio with Azealia Banks," the drag star wrote on her personal Facebook. While it's unknown whether Banks will be featured on a track for Coulee's new EP or Coulee will cameo on a secret project Banks has in the works, the duet is sure to be fire. "Y'all better scrub y'all boochie real good for this one," Banks tweeted ahead of their studio session this Thursday.
“Y'all heard it here first me and AB about to SLAY this track! https://t.co/qeF1soBu8I”— Shea Couleé (@Shea Couleé) 1499191643
Considering Banks is such a controversial figure in the LGBTQ community--having previously posted homophobic, transphobic and racist remarks online--fans' response to the big announcement was aptly divided. Though many praised the partnership, several pointed out one of Coulee's tweets from April, which called Banks a tired hypocrite. "I just don't get why people even try and stan for her," the Drag Race finalist wrote.
“God. @AZEALIABANKS is so tired. I just don't get why people even try and stan for her. All she is is a talking head and a hypocrite. #overit”— Shea Couleé (@Shea Couleé) 1461874528
Perhaps Coulee has simply had a change of heart since April, especially since she's long been a fan of Banks--one person remembered the drag star writing Banks' name on the back of a receipt as a music recommendation. However, it's also likely the breakout Chicago performer saw a major career opportunity and took advantage of the situation, because as one fan wrote, Banks is "a bit misunderstood and can be quite divisive, but damn she's talented."
