Today marks the release of Theda Hammel's new four-track EP, SondHamm. More simply known as Hamm in Brooklyn's queer scene, her collection of new tracks reimagine Sondheim classics through a subversive, electronic lens, from the iconic composer's musicals A Little Night Music, Into the Woods, Passion and Sunday in the Park with George.
"I wanted to hear myself speaking these words in my own musical voice, and to do that credibly, I needed to rework them in a kind of sacriligious way," Hammel told OUT.

Hammel independently remixed and orchestrated the EP tracks, which have been released on her own DIY label, called MajorTransCeleb. She'll celebrate Sondhamm's release tonight with live performances of the work at Williamsburg's Macri Park. The EP is now available on both Soundcloud and Bandcamp, and can be streamed in full, below.
Last time OUT caught up with Hammel, we invaded her space to discuss queerness, gayness and her podcast, Hammcast, all from the comfort of her bedroom. Watch our conversation, below.
