The Wedding-Prep Secret That Made This Couple's Wedding Unforgettable

These are just some of the vows shared between newlyweds Kate Austin (she/her) and Sarah Sulsenti (she/her), whose support and love for one another knows no bounds. This couple understands the importance of sharing that support and love, and they've made it their mission in life to do that for the LGBTQIA+ community by spreading their positivity and warmth to their thousands of social media followers.

Having been only weeks since their wedding, these inspiring newlyweds sat down with Out to give readers a glance into their love life, their most memorable wedding moments, and the wedding prep secret they're ready to share.

You two are just such a lovely couple. I'm sure that you have a lot to say about what you find beautiful about one another, but first, tell me. What do you find beautiful about yourself?

Kate: I think for myself, I would say my skin. I know in the grand scheme of people and skin issues, I have very easy skin but one can never be too prepped, especially for such a huge milestone such as a wedding.

Sarah: I'm really big on eyebrows. But I also pride myself on my personality and my ability to socialize and provide a lot of energy to the spaces that I enter.

Kate: She really does. And I would have to say that I find my ability to be a giver as something beautiful about myself. It allows me to create a safe space for people and give back to people in ways that I never got to experience when growing up.

Those are wonderful things to find beautiful about yourself. What do you find beautiful about your partner?

Kate: I love Sarah's smile. It's very contagious. It's always very genuine and it's huge when she's happy, you'll see every single tooth in her mouth. She has the most bright and big smile.

Sarah: If we're doing physical, I was going to say smile too, but I'll move to her eyes because they're obviously stunning. And she also does speak with her eyes a lot. I also love making Kate laugh. It's one of my favorite things in the world. Any single time she laughs. It's like a score for me.

And I know you both looked so happy when you first saw each other down the aisle. Getting treated with The JUVEDERM® Collection of Fillers, how did that help you prep for the big day?

Kate: We both had our lips treated by our provider, Kaitlyn Nelson, with JUVEDERM® Ultra XC. There's something about that initial first look at your results that leaves you thinking, oh my God, my lips look so much more enhanced, but still natural and like me! It was great prep for such a special day.

Sarah: Yes, we were so happy with our results! It made our lips bolder.

How were you able to fit treatment in with everything else you had going on with wedding planning?

Kate: It was just one of those things where it wasn't even a question of whether we needed to include it or not. We wanted full, plump lips so we had to make sure that we had our appointments lined up before our wedding date to allow time for a touch- up treatment for optimal results and any side effects like swelling, bruising and tenderness to go away. It was an absolute must! We would've canceled any other plans if the treatments had conflicted.

Sarah: It really was a necessity for us to get our lips treated. We were able to work with our provider to fit treatment seamlessly into our hectic schedules, so that we could get everything done that we needed to get done. It went off without a hitch.

Finally, looking back on those days of prep for your wedding, what will you remember most about those days planning together?

Kate: So for our grand entrance right after being announced Mrs. and Mrs., we came out and had all of our guests hold pride flags instead of throwing rice or flower petals. And I think especially being somebody who was kicked out and doesn't have a relationship with some of my family because I'm gay, being able to have that moment will forever be one of the coolest, most greatest moments of my life.

Sarah: And I think the only thing other than that was seeing our loved ones, all different parts of our family and chosen family. Seeing your loved ones that you never thought would be in the same room together, it's a really, really special feeling.

Are there any reasons why I should not receive JUVEDERM® VOLBELLA® XC or JUVEDERM® Ultra XC injectable gels?

Do not use these products if you have a history of multiple severe allergies or severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis), or if you are allergic to lidocaine or Gram-positive bacterial proteins used in these products.

What precautions should my doctor advise me about?

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. The safety of these products for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding has not been studied

The safety of JUVEDERM® VOLBELLA® XC in patients under 22 years, and the safety of JUVEDERM® Ultra XC in patients under 18 years, has not been studied

The safety and effectiveness of JUVEDERM® VOLBELLA® XC in areas other than the lips and perioral area have not been established in controlled clinical studies

The safety and effectiveness of JUVEDERM® Ultra XC for areas other than the lips and perioral area for lip augmentation, or for facial wrinkles and folds, have not been established in controlled clinical studies

Tell your doctor if you have a history of excessive scarring (eg, hypertrophic scarring and keloid formations) or pigmentation disorders, as use of these products may result in additional scars or changes in pigmentation

Tell your doctor if you are planning other laser treatments or a chemical peel, as there is a possible risk of inflammation at the treatment site if these procedures are performed after treatment

Patients who experience skin injury near the site of injection with these products may be at a higher risk for side effects

Tell your doctor if you are on immunosuppressive therapy used to decrease the body's immune response, as use of these products may result in an increased risk of infection

Tell your doctor if you are using medications that can prolong bleeding, such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or other blood thinners, as this may result in increased bruising or bleeding at the injection site

Minimize strenuous exercise, exposure to extensive sun or heat, and alcoholic beverages within the first 24 hours following treatment

What are possible side effects?

The most common side effects included swelling, tenderness, bruising, firmness, lumps/bumps, redness, pain, discoloration, itching, and dryness. For JUVEDERM® VOLBELLA® XC, side effects were predominantly mild or moderate, with a duration of 30 days or less. With JUVEDERM® Ultra XC injectable gel, most side effects were mild or moderate and lasted 14 days or less.

One of the risks with using these products is unintentional injection into a blood vessel, and, while rare, the complications can be serious and may be permanent. These complications, which have been reported for facial injections, can include vision abnormalities, blindness, stroke, temporary scabs, or permanent scarring.

As with all skin injection procedures, there is a risk of infection.
