Kit Connor & Joe Locke tease 'steamy' third season of Heartstopper
“Mental health, sex, university ambitions, and more: Nick, Charlie, and the Heartstopper teens are getting older,” series creator Alice Oseman revealed about season 3.
All you need is love.
Heartstopper season 3 is officially coming to Netflix in October 2024. During these eight brand-new episodes, our gang of fan-favorite characters will be growing up right before our eyes!
Per an official Netflix release, the third season of Heartstopper centers on Charlie wanting to profess his love to Nick, whereas Nick is gathering his thoughts and courage to address the mental health issues he’s seen from Charlie throughout season 2. Meanwhile, another summer comes to an end… but this time, the gang faces a set of new obstacles upon returning to school.
Between managing their friendships and romantic relationships, making plans to spend quality time together, and worrying about which universities they’d like to attend, this new chapter of Heartstopper explores the joys and the hurdles of growing up.
“The tension is high — sexual tension, love, it’s all there,” actor Kit Connor explained in the announcement video that you can watch below.
Alice Oseman, creator of the Heartstopper graphic novels and TV series, wrote the following statement about season 3:
“I cannot wait for the third season of Heartstopper to be released in October. Season 2 ended with Nick beginning to understand the extent of Charlie’s mental health issues, and it’s this that will drive the story through season 3. While Heartstopper will always celebrate the joyful and point towards hope, I’m really excited that we are allowing the tone of the show to mature alongside our beloved characters growing up.”
Oseman continued:
“Mental health, sex, university ambitions, and more: Nick, Charlie, and the Heartstopper teens are getting older, learning more about themselves and each other, and experiencing new desires, new fears, and new joys as they approach adulthood.”
This third season of Heartstopper will see the return of Kit Connor (Nick), Joe Locke (Charlie), Yasmin Finney (Elle), William Gao (Tao), Corinna Brown (Tara), Kizzy Edgell (Darcy), Tobie Donovan (Isaac), Leila Khan (Sahar), Rhea Norwood (Imogen), and Jenny Walser (Tori) reprising their roles. Actor Darragh Hand has been cast to play a new character named Michael Holden, whereas Sebastian Croft (Ben) will not return for season 3.
As previously announced, the first episode of Heartstopper season 3 is titled “Love.” Though it seems a bit cryptic, it also sounds pretty optimistic, so we’re here for it!
Heartstopper season 3 premieres in October 2024 on Netflix, where you can already stream the first two seasons of the series.
