Timothée Chalamet as Robin? I Would Like to See It

Timothée Chalamet as Robin to Robert Pattinson’s Batman is ts literally an erotic gay fanfiction I wrote once, but now it’s something that could actually happen. Maybe. Or it’s at least something Chalamet, my estranged husband, isn’t ruling out. (He’s estranged because we’re not married and have never met. Timmy, if you’re reading this, please come home. I miss you.)

While attending the premiere of his new Netflix film The King, wearing a canary yellow mock neck shirt under a black suit, Chalamet was asked what he thought of co-star Pattinson’s casting as Batman in Matt Reeves’s upcoming reboot. Yes, Batman movies are the Russian Doll of Hollywood.

"I think it's going to be awesome. You know, I think it's going to be great," Chalamet told Variety, adding that the new take on the caped crusader would be “fresh.” Girl, I hope so!

Chalamet also said that he was a huge Batman fan as a kid, going so far as to tell strangers in elevators that his name was Robin. While he seemed reluctant to give fans the chance to speculate that he’d appear as Robin in any planned films, he did say he’s “not averse to those universes,” referring to the sprawling world of comic book movies.

Batman and Robin’s mentor/ward relationship has long been coded as gay — it’s basically a Family Dick movie with better gadgets — and their relationship is all but canon thanks to Batman & Robin, the gayest Batman movie (directed by Joel Schumacher, now most famous for putting his body count at 10,000-20,000 men). Based on Chalamet’s busy schedule and preference for indie cinema it doesn’t seem likely that we’ll be seeing him star as Robin … but a girl can dream. Pattinson and Chalamet as Batman and Robin would basically just be Call Me By Your Name with a darker color palate … and I know Pattinson would eat the peach!
