Acne Studios & Grace Ahlbom Explore the Importance of Good Sneakers

A good pair of shoes is important--but we probably didn't necessarily need to tell you that. As multidisciplinary artist Grace Ahlbom says, "Shoes are the first thing I look at when meeting someone--I can always tell their personality through their shoes." To bring this notion to life, she teamed up with Acne Studios to highlight the brand's new fall sneaker range in a new light.

She created a film that captures the new sneakers on a nostalgic trip through her favorite spots in NYC, shot with a VHS camera (one of her signatures). "While I was away at college my dad sent me a box of home videos from my childhood during the 90s, which started my curiosity in VHS cameras. I began filming my friends around New York City and made a bunch of short films throughout college."

In this video, you'll see models in the latest trainer silhouettes at key locations, including at the schoolyard where Grace shot some of her first college films.
