Leia Now a Disney Princess?

Disney buys Lucasfilm, which means the same company that owns Mickey Mouse, now owns Marvel Comics and 'Star Wars'

According to a press release, The Walt Disney Company is acquiring Lucasfilm and the Star Wars franchise for $4.05 billion. According to the press release:

Global leader in high-quality family entertainment agrees to acquire world-renowned Lucasfilm Ltd, including legendary STAR WARS franchise.

Acquisition continues Disney's strategic focus on creating and monetizing the world's best branded content, innovative technology and global growth to drive long-term shareholder value.

Lucasfilm to join company's global portfolio of world class brands including Disney, ESPN, Pixar, Marvel and ABC.

As ThinkGeek tweeted: Leia added to Disney princess line-up!?

Carrie Fisher has been quite vocal about her annoyance that Lucas stole her likeness, speaking about it in her one-woman show. Now will her nemesis be Disney?

Disney has been making a lot of big moves as of late. Disney Studios Chairman Rick Ross, an openly gay man, was fired in April and replaced with movie veteran Alan Horn.

Oh, and Disney will be making the seventh installment in the Star Wars franchise as well, which is now slated for 2015.

Mind blown yet?
