Seriously, it feels like every day there is at least one new fashion collaboration announced. What started as a novel idea a few years back has now spread and become quotidian news that's rarely newsworthy. Not that it's always bad -- sometimes when two things come together, it just makes sense. That's why today, when we read that designer Adam Kimmel would be tackling the work wear brand Carhartt, we realized this is actually pretty inspired. Kimmel, who has been in the menswear game since 2004, is a straight-forward guy's guy (and husband to LeeLee Sobieski) and his collections reflect that (his last collection was inspired by hip hop street culture). He's not fussy or persnickety, which makes him an ideal match for Carhartt, which is like a working man's uniform. "I've worn Carhartt since I was 10 years old and for me it's a chance to expand my business in a romantic way," Kimmel said. "Carhartt is an American heritage brand and it's really maintained the integrity and quality of the product and kept a focus on their core customer over the years. This is the perfect marriage." The partnership, which was set up by Barney's Jay Bell, will feature 29 pieces including outerwear, denim and accessories -- with Kimmel's take on an updated silhouette and use of luxury fabrics, of course. So every once in a while, we may just have to give in to the charms of the collaboration, and reap the benefits of designers and brands sparring tete-a-tete.
