When I was in college I used to frequent a video karaoke booth in the Mall of America with my roommates. We'd choose one of our favorite guilty pleasure tunes, pack into the booth, belt our tone deaf little hearts out in front of the green screen, and then be rewarded with a video of us singing amidst a school of schmaltzy tropical fish or beside the boosters of a NASA space shuttle circa 1983 as it launched into orbit.
Ironically, one of our favorite artists to "cover" was Mariah Carey. I say "ironically," because the (very very very) pregnant diva's new video for the New Year's Eve classic Auld Lang Syde appears to have been shot in that very same Mall of America karaoke video booth.
Thanks, Mimi, but I think I'll stick with "All I Want For Christmas (Is You)."
