Review: Tom Ford

As with all of the truly great menswear designers, a man should know what to expect from a company. Just as you should know that Saville Row is the place for a great bespoke suit and that John Lobb will provide you with possibly the best shoes a man can buy, Tom Ford has carved his niche in menswear. The emphasis is definitely on tailoring and outerwear. In just a few short seasons Ford has not so subtly introduced his provocative yet classic menswear statements. They have undoubtedly driven the way men will dress. Something of the glamour of 1970s pool parties in Hollywood always springs to mind when looking at the well manicured models. A peacock satin tuxedo jacket, for example, was teamed with a shirt and bowtie in the same hues but slightly different shades. This was a new introduction for the season but felt like an expansion on the larger theme that has been building since the label's introduction. Shearling wool plad bomber jackets with oversized leather patch pockets were also must have peices for fall.
