3. Chris Colfer - nominee for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy for Glee
Therhomometer Reading: 1000 (Astronomically Gay)
Everything about Colfer orbits in the queer universe -- from his character Kurt's fashion sense to his on-screen liplock with former Out coverboy Darren Criss to his timely, anti-bullying storyline (to say nothing of the classic Broadway tilt he gives to the already super-gay Glee axis). Duh. We knew that already. The interesting thing, though, about Colfer's Emmy nomination (his second), is that this year he actually has a good chance of winning. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to do the math: if the four nominees from Modern Family cancel each other out, then it's down to Colfer and Charlie Sheen's other Half, Jon Cryer. With all Kurt's been through this season, we think it's Colfer's moment to radiate.
4. Alan Cumming - nominee for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama for The Good Wife
Therhomometer Reading: 99 (Historically Gay)
Ever since coming out as bisexual in 1998, Cumming has been feeding our appetite for meaty, gay roles. He won a Tony for playing the Emcee in the 1998 revival of Cabaret, guest-starred on Sex and the City as a fierce fashion designer, taught Frasier's Kelsey Grammar yoga, and promoted parties as a drag queen in season 3 of The L Word. And that's just scratching the surface of Lord Cumming's extensive repertoire. The outspoken Brit, who lives in New York with his partner Grant Shaffer, is also involved in promoting LGBT rights for several organizations, including GLAAD, HRC, and Broadway Care/Equity Fights AIDS. His role on The Good Wife is nowhere near his gayest; he plays the Rahm Emanuel-inspired campaign manager Eli Gold, who's blunt and sneaky but not (or rather, not yet) involved in any same-sex relations.
5. Jim Parsons - nominee for Best Actor in a Comedy for The Big Bang Theory
Therhomometer Reading: 98.6 (Precisely Gay)
Last year's winner in his category, Parsons had some people wondering... well, why he hadn't come out yet. The Houston native plays an ambiguously asexual nerd on The Big Bang Theory, and he'd been been spotted with what appeared to be his boyfriend. Then, shortly after his Emmy win last year, The National Enquirer (that bastion of unsubstantiated rumors) reported Parsons and his boyfriend Todd Spiewak were engaged. That may actually have been true, though in January rumors circulated that their engagement broke off due to disagreements over adopting children.
