Bella Dona: Hostess Donatella Arpaia Now Hosting Gay Weddings

Life sure is funny, isn't it? Take for example Donatella Arpaia, who started off her career as an attorney but now finds herself heading up a string of eateries like Mia Dona, Anthos, Kefi and -- of course -- Donatella (have you ever been? Um, the desserts are to die for) as part of her edible empire. Not only that, but her quick rise to food stardom includes Zagat deeming her "The Hostess with the Mostess" and The New York Post crediting her as one of the most powerful women in New York City.

Add to that her 2010 cookbook Donatella Cooks: Simple Food Made Glamorous and her many appearances on The Food Network and its hard believe we could have lost this born entertaining superstar to the courts -- who knew?

Now, consider another funny coincidence. Last April, when Arpaia married her husband Allan Stewart, her close friend and business partner Davide Torchio caught her bouquet. Sadly, it didn't seem that he would, as tradition has it, be the next in line to get married as he's gay and that option was not available to him. Aha, but April seems like a million years ago now, with New York's historic ruling legalizing gay unions. Donatella hasn't skipped a beat and will be hosting a lot more wedding receptions for all of her adoring gay fans, but first up is a more private affair -- Torchio's wedding later this month at her home. But don't let that stop you from booking one of Donatella's New York hotspots for the setting for your nuptials -- she won't mind one bit.
