There Goes the Neighborhood: Opening Ceremony for Maison Martin Margiela

Oh lord. This one really takes the cake. We get it, Opening Ceremony. You're the coolest kids in school. New York Magazine sings your praises. You've got Chloe Sevigny on speed-dial. You smoke pot and hang out with the Rodarte sisters when you go to California. Your sample sale is like the second coming of Armageddon. It's all cool, we know. And we know you've been feeling real frisky these days and just hooking up with just about anybody for a collaboration. But really? Maison Martin Margiela? That just doesn't compute in our head. The brand is (was) untouchable. This just reeks of selling out, especially now that MM isn't at the house anymore. We hate to say, but we're disappointed in you Margi, and we're cutting all of the shoulder-pads out of our jackets to prove it.
