Fall Nelly Telly

True Blood
Based on Charlaine Harris's popular book series, this new drama from Alan Ball (Six Feet Under) fleshes out the recurring vampire-homo metaphor, adding a flamboyant gay cook named Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) and Japanese-made synthetic blood. How chic. (HBO, premieres September)

Kath and Kim
Those suffering from Ab Fab withdrawal, take heed. This show -- a glammed-up version of the Aussie smash comedy of the same name -- tells the story of a 40-something suburban divorc'e (Molly Shannon) who lets her newly single gluttonous daughter (Selma Blair) move back home. Expect big brawls and big hair. (NBC, October 9)

Little Britain USA
Outr' comedic duo Matt Lucas and David Walliams finally transplant their ribald troupe of wacky characters -- plus 10 new oddballs -- to the States, as their BBC hit gets an American spin-off. David Schwimmer (Friends) will direct some episodes. (HBO, Fall)
