As French actor Romain Duris told Out last year, in Francois Ozon's upcoming The New Girlfriend, he plays a trans woman named Virginia.
"My character is the girlfriend of a close friend," he explains. "I love the story. It's a comedy, but it's very emotional. I did a lot of research -- I did what I learned in theater, striving to feel, inside, how it could be to be another sex.It was a new way of being and breathing. It's different from anything I've done before."
The film opened in Europe last fall and will have a limited U.S. theatrical release September 18. We have the exclusive first look at the poster (we assume that's Duris in the blonde wig, trench, and heels).
