This K-Pop Star Just Came Out As Bisexual

Love is love is love is love is love, and singer Som Hye In is screaming hers from the rooftops. The K-Pop star recently posted photos with her girlfriend on her Instagram, a coming out for the digital age that's sending fans and Korean media into a frenzy.

Som Hye In posted two photos, one with her holding the hand of someone else and a second with her face resting on the cheek of another's. The captions translate to "my lovely girl" and "chu chu My girlfriend," respectively, according to Instagram.

Fans of the 2017 Korean reality show Idol School will remember Som Hye, as she was a contestant. The singer confirmed she was officially coming out a day later via her Instagram stories, according to Soompi, an English-language site that covers Korean pop culture.

"Yes, it's true that I came out," she wrote. "I'm in a same-sex relationship."

In a second post to her stories, she described her decision to come out, and put her fans and trolls on notice to stop their discriminating messages.

"If the posting of speculative written content and videos continue, I will be taking legal measures," she said according to Soompi. "I am in a loving [relationship] and since it's not wrong, I confidently did come out [as bisexual], but I didn't do it so that I could stand out. What kind of person lightly makes the decision to come out like that?

"People think differently and can hate same-sex relationships," she wrote. "Yes, you can hate it. Those are individual values and I'm not trying to force [anyone] to understand or like homosexuality. I am also not begging for [anyone] to like or notice me. I didn't think that I would receive this much attention. I just didn't want to hide the fact that I am dating and in love just like everyone else.I don't want my people to get hurt, and it's my duty to protect them. I will also take legal measures to protect my people. Please stop."
