The triple-threat San Francisco-based company Wood Thumb (a warehouse, brewery and yoga studio) had the brilliant idea to make ties from California redwood in a variety of different styles, ranging from a classic to skinny ties, and even bow ties. So, how does this “wooden” tie thing work? It's simple: The tie is segmented into multiple pieces of wood that are held together by an internal cord to create the illusion that they're as flexible as ordinary fabric. Fun fact: Each Wood Thumb product is unique, adopting interesting contrasts in color, texture and embellishments depending on the piece of wood used. Not only are these incredibly fashion-forward, they are also recyclable. A great way to take a stance on sustainable design.
