Last night was the Met Gala, which is basically the hottest fashion party in town. The swank soiree ushered in the opening of the Metropolitan Museum's latest exhibition Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations, and basically everyone in the fashion industry was there. There's always a huge media blitz around the event, which means that actresses, musicians, designers, and models all carefully plan what they're going to wear for their walk on the red carpet. The women likely spend weeks planning every detail of their ensembles, from accessories to make-up to hair, so as to impress the hordes of paparazzi and, most importantly, Anna Wintour. So everyone from Beoynce to Rihanna to Gwyneth showed up to strut their stuff. But if they thought that they were going to steal the show, they had another thing coming. No frilly, frothy creation nor sexy, slinky slip was going to take the spotlight off Mr. Marc Jacobs, who, in a brilliant move, tossed on a lace dress over some white boxers, wore shoes of his own design, carried a clutch and took ex-boyfriend Lorenzo Martone. All those other divas must have withered with embarassment to see Marc steal the show, and, let's be honest, the only thing we've come to expect from him is the unexpected. When asked about his unconventional attire, he shrugged it off and said: "I just didn't wanna wear a tuxedo and be boring." Boring? Marc? Never.
