Pitt and Jolie Take Back Gay Marriage Promise

It’s hard to believe it was six years ago when Brad Pitt claimed in an interview with Esquire that “Angie and I will consider tying the knot when everyone else in the country who wants to be married is legally able.” While we’ve always appreciated the Jolie-Pitt stand in solidarity, it is starting to look like this particular declaration is not gonna stick for much longer.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Pitt basically takes it back, suggesting that one of Hollywood’s longest-running power couples may be making it legal in the near future.
“We’d actually like to, and it seems to mean more and more to our kids," he said. "We made this declaration some time ago that we weren’t going to do it till everyone can. But I don’t think we’ll be able to hold out. It means so much to my kids, and they ask a lot. And it means something to me, too, to make that kind of commitment.”
Say it ain’t so Brad! When pressed for further comments about his thoughts on gay marriage Pitt had this to say: “to be in love with someone and be raising a family with someone and want to make that commitment and not be able to is ludicrous, just ludicrous.”
These two were tailor-made for each other and it’s about time Angelina made an honest man out of Brad. It is only a matter of time before gay marriage is the norm everywhere in this country. As we keep fighting to get closer to that epic day it is awesome that we have straight allies to stand with us.

But I would respond that no one ever has to be "married" in order to be committed to another person, man or woman. Just like no one ever has to believe in God in order to be ethical and moral and good. Just sayin'
I have lived for nearly 40 years, as though married but not married in fact, with another man, I can attest that each year it gets better, and we remain committed and that commitment continues to grow stronger as we age. We take care of each other. We love each other. We do not need marriage for that. (In many cases, I strongly agree, it is better to marry from a legal and tax point of view, but not always true.)
