Pretty Much Amazing just posted two tracks from Amy Winehouse's upcoming album, Lioness: Hidden Treasures. The first, "Halftime," is a smooth lovesong complemented by soulful acoustic guitar, perfectly appropriate bluesy flutes, and, of course, Winehouse's sultry vocals. This song's lyrics are melancholic in the context of her sudden passing this summer (Halftime / Time to think it through / Consider the change / See it from a different view), as they suggest the pop star reflecting on her nascent career and her powerless devotion to her music.
The second track, "Between the Cheats," sounds more doo-wop—in the vein of the Flamingos—with backing vocalists "shoop"-ing with the chorus. Lioness, which looks to be very promising, is out December 6.
