When asked what he likes to photograph, Girard tells OUT he likes to shoot people.
"My favorite, though, is people in nature," he adds.
"Most people I work with I've booked because I put myself out there and ask them point blank, 'Can I photo you?'" Girard says. "About 30% say yes, and the rest probably think I'm nutty."
"Adam had the idea of climbing onto the building next to my house for his shoot," Girard says of this shoot with the bearded musician.
"For me, body hair goes back to my fixation on all things graphically interesting," Girard says. "What someone does with their facial hair illustrates so much of their personality. The possibilities are endless, truly."
"As a recently baby-faced man, I can safely say that I absolutely am fixated on facial hair," Girard says. "Stubble is no fun."
"Brian is my coworker, and obviously there are no boundaries with that one," Girard says of this shoot.
Scooter runs Cub Camp, a popular party in Toronto with occasional pit stops in New York City and San Francisco.
Dominic aka A Bearded Boy and Scooter have collaborated on another party in Toronto called Trade.
For those interested in checking out Girard's work in person, he's "going to be showcasing new work from a collaborative project with the fabulous Grace Towers in December."
When asked about this shoot with Eric and the watermelon, Girard tells OUT that it "was all mister Mike 'Accidental Bear' Enders’s idea. I like to think it was inspired by Gallagher, and if you don’t know who that is... look it up."
"All of the boys are very sweet and incredibly gracious for the photos, as am I for the time and energy they put into them," Girard says when asked about the models' reactions to see their pictures online.
"I think we all know that the photos are going to end up in the Tumblr-sphere where anything can happen," Girard says of his photos spreading around the Internet.
Kevin is aka Chipmint is a popular DJ in San Francisco.
"Kevin’s soul is made of delicious cupcakes and the photos hopefully reflect that," Girard says of Kevin's photo shoot.
"Everyone I photograph has some feature that draws me in," Girard says. "Whether it's a pair of great eyebrows, an interesting nose, etc. That's where the initial attraction comes into play."
