Monday, June 23: Thirty years ago Harvey Milk, a neighborhood queer activist turned San Francisco supervisor, was assassinated after defeating a conservative initiative to declare gay teachers fireable if they were "advocating, imposing, encouraging, or promoting" homosexuality in schools. Tonight the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences celebrates The Times of Harvey Milk,Rob Epstein's 1984 Oscar-winning documentary about the first openly gay politician's brave crusade, with a screening at the Directors Guild of America in New York City. Epstein will be in attendance for Q&As. Tuesday, June 24: Today two fabulous ladies deliver long-awaited aural gems. Fifteen years ago Liz Phair unveiled her genius debut, Exile in Guyville, reportedly a song-by-song response to the Rolling Stones Exile on Main Street. Phair recorded much of it on tapes, but we can finally behold Guyville on vinyl, on CD and, for the first time ever, in digital format with the 15th Anniversary reissue (Check out the timeless "Never Said" here.) In addition, Kathy Griffin, our favorite honorary gay (above), offers her promised comedy CD, For Your Consideration. You can expect plenty of dish on her mother, biting Oprah barbs, and the scoop on the new man in her life, Apple mogul Steve Wozniak. Watch a clip of her Bravo special, Straight to Hell, here. Wednesday, June 25: When did you know? For some of us it was looking at the JCPenney catalog and stalling on the men's underwear section. To catch other queer epiphanies check out Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbatos documentary When I Knew, airing tonight on Cinemax. The doc features 16 confessional interviews from across the U.S., the subjects ranging from housewives to cowboys. Watch some When I Knew confessionals here. Thursday, June 26: Reigning goddess Kylie Minogue (above) has survived breast cancer (not to mention wisecracks about that sickly sweet "Locomotion" remake) and sold more than 60 million records worldwide. Tonight marks the kickoff of the KylieX2008 tour to promote her most recent album, X, with three nights of glitzy performances in Belfast. After Northern Ireland she'll take on Glasgow, Manchester, and London. Check out the super-hot video for "All I See" here and get your UK tickets here. Friday, June 27: Our love for James McAvoy (above) only gets more obvious with each new project. You may know him only as Keira Knightley's man in Atonement, but tonight you can see him wet and shirtless with Angelina Jolie in Wanted. The story (as if we need one) is about a secret fraternity of assassins who recruit McAvoy's character and save him from his miserable cubicle existence and the ongoing torment from his fat, pestering boss. Looks like he's been working out too -- catch the trailer here. Also, it's time to get tested. No time like today, National HIV Testing Day. Find a testing center near you here. Saturday, June 28: Attention, literary queers who like to get tied up: Your day in the sun has arrived. Richard Labonte has been reading, editing, and compiling quality queer erotica for years, and today you can live out your leather and domination fantasies with his new book Best Gay Bondage Erotica (solo in your PJs or with your devoted sidekick). Pick up a copy here. And if you're in Dallas and still long for Mrs. Garrett, catch the Uptown Players present The Facts of Life: The Lost Episode, complete with boys playing '80s school girls, at the Rose Room. Reminisce with the opening credits to The Facts of Life here, then watch a local GayTV bit about the show here. Sunday, June 29:New York City Pride is in full effect, and Sunday is brimming with gay festivities: Start at 12pm with the Pride Parade, beginning at Fifth Avenue and 52nd Street and ending at Christopher and Greenwich Streets. Later, wander over to Pridefest, a street fair on Hudson Street from 11am-7pm, then work up a sweat at the Dance on the Pier on the Hudson River. Get the specifics here. And fear not, Tennessee residents, you have your own special gay weekend at Dollywood on Saturday or at Dolly's Splash Country on Sunday. Before you flock to the gay icon's theme parks to celebrate Pride down South, get the details here. Send a letter to the editor about this article.
