"I was lucky," the Olympian told The Times

Olympic diver Tom Daley came out to the public as bisexual via his YouTube channel in 2013 and caused the gay world to rejoice. But his decision to be so open about his sexuality was never easy, and, like so many of us, the hardest people for him to tell included those he loved most.

In an new interview with The UK's The Times, Daley talked about how he came out to his mother about his relationship with fiance Dustin Lance Black.

After bringing Black home for the weekend for a cookout, Daley asked his mother what she thought of him.

"Yeah, he's great," she said. "He makes great burgers."

That's when Daley explained that the two of them were in a relationship.

Daley recalls: "She said, 'Like a gay relationship?' And I said, 'Yeah.' And she said, 'Oh...all right.' She had no idea, despite the fact I'd brought this guy home for the weekend. I was lucky. It was so easy, and you hear some horror stories."

Look for Daley as he competes for Great Britain in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. Read the full article here.
