Models We Love: Parker Hurley

What was your favorite shoot to work on? Why is it your favorite?
I did a shoot with Dima Hohlov for E&A Magazine about half a year ago. They contacted my agency and said, "We need a guy who is Paul Newman/Marlon Brando/James Dean all wrapped in one." John, my agent, submitted only me and they were all for it. It was a blast. Who wouldn't want to embody the three coolest men ever?

What is usually the reaction when you tell people that you're a model?
I don't tell people, unless they ask. Modeling is my job, and a great one, but it doesn't define me.

What's your fitness routine? How often do you work out? What do you do at the gym?
I do weight training 4 to 5 times a week. Cardio 2 to 3 times a week. Kick-boxing or weapons training 3 to 4 times a week and Bikram yoga 2 to 3 times a week. I'm always active but it's important to keep my body guessing so I mix up routines.

What's your diet like? What are your favorite foods?
Your body is a tool -- a machine -- so of course I'm concious of what I put in it. I love to cook and do so very often. For example I just baked a batch off double chocolate peanut butter protein cookies...

Who are some people you'd like to work with in the industry that you haven't yet?
I've worked with some amazing photographers already like Ruven Afanador. I'd love to work with him again. Klein, Meisel, anyone that creates a story -- and the crazier the story the better, I'd much rather push my limits. Anyone that is going to create something fantastical that is full of imagination.

What do you see yourself doing after this?
Wearing really expensive custom tailored superhero costumes in live-action films...

Do you have any other side projects that you're working on?
I'm still working as an artist and have been taking acting classes for awhile. I'm currently meeting with agencies right now for representation and can't wait to get to work!

Are you particularly interested in fashion or is it just a job? Who's your favorite designer?
I definitely respect fashion but don't get sucked into it. You'll most commonly see me in a pair of jeans, sneakers, superhero tank top, and a beanie. My favorite designer? Anyone who branches the gap between practical clothing and costumes. I remember very early in my career I met with a designer who's clothes looked like something straight out of Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. These amazingly hand-crafted post-apocalyptic suits of leather armor.
