Mr. Robot actor Rami Malek is the latest star attached to the long-discussed biopic on Queen frontman Freddie Mercury, and despite rumors swirling for months, plans for the production are finally underway.

Queen OnLine, the band's official site, released a statement putting to rest some of our most burning questions about the film. First of all, it's happening, and it has a title. "Yes folks, it IS finally happening," they wrote. "You've been hearing rumours about Bohemian Rhapsody The Film for some time, but now QOL is about to become your most direct source of official information."

In addition to confirming Malek in the lead role--"Rami has great presence and he's utterly dedicated to the project," Roger May and Brian May said. "He's completely living and breathing Freddie already"--they've also solidifed a director. "Award winning director Bryan Singer is the man who will be bringing the Queen and Freddie story alive," Queen wrote. "If you've ever seen Singer's X-Men films, or the groundbreaking movie The Usual Suspects, you'll know this is a director with extraordinary imagination and style."

The statement also revealed pre-production would commence in the UK next week, with shooting hopefully to begin mid-September. Previously, actor Sacha Baron Cohen had been rumored to be taking on Mercury's role, but he dropped out of the project due to differences in creative opinion.
