Versace is probably the only house that can manage to change the theme -- and the cut -- of the menswear season after season. Somehow, it still manages to be very Versace. The key to Versace is glamour, so even if you are a Tron-inspired biker with figure hugging patent pants and detailed leather biker jackets. As Versace was this season, or djellaba wearing eastern sophisticate as it was last season the key is to be sexy. That said, Versace really did seem to evolve in a positive direction for fall. Leather jackets seemed brand appropriate.

As with all of the truly great menswear designers, a man should know what to expect from a company. Just as you should know that Saville Row is the place for a great bespoke suit and that John Lobb will provide you with possibly the best shoes a man can buy, Tom Ford has carved his niche in menswear. The emphasis is definitely on tailoring and outerwear. In just a few short seasons Ford has not so subtly introduced his provocative yet classic menswear statements. They have undoubtedly driven the way men will dress.

Trying to fight your way into the D Squared show through throngs of teenage girls was a little odd as this is not the usual demographic waiting outside a fashion show. But all was revealed when lead singer of the German band Tokio Hotel, Bill Kaulitz, opened the show. I've never really understood teenage girls' facination with androgynous men in makeup, David Bowie, Freddy Mercury, Depeche Mode, etc. The only thing butch about Bill is his name.
