Like everything else in Iceland, the nation's native cinema is highly unique. But among the five Icelandic flicks we shortlisted, we were able to find some loosely related American counterparts—most of the time.
If you have a sweet tooth, it turns out Iceland is a dream come true (there are no fewer than five candy factories for a population of 300,000!). Especially intriguing is the ubiquitous chocolate–licorice combo that fills aisles in all permutations.
