Out has partnered with Lexus to present the first-ever Fashion Vanguard Awards (FVAs). Held on Wednesday at Taglyan Complex in Hollywood, California, the event, sponsored by Macy's and La Crema wines, was hosted by soccer player Robbie Rogers and his stylist, Warren Alfie Baker, and co-chaired by Out editor-in-chief Aaron Hickin, fashion director Grant Woolhead, and Here Media group publisher Joe Valentino.
The three aspiring designers, Marcel Coleman Jr., Kim Mesches, and Andrew Morrison showed their designs on models in front of an audience of L.A.'s finest and celebrity judges including the likes of E.J. Johnson and Miss J. Alexander. Scroll through to see what happened. Each created custom red carpet designs for the event while competing for the title of OUT Fashion Vanguard and an editorial feature in Out's June/July issue. At the end of the evening, Brooklyn-based designer Andrew Morrison was announced as the winner.
