The Moment: April 10, 1957: Laurence Olivier stars in John Osborne's The Entertainer at London's Royal Court Theatre

"I'm 76, and I've never worked harder in my life," says the prolific Terrence McNally. With the Tony-nominated Mothers and Sons and the celeb-studded revival of It's Only a Play on Broadway (and a remounting of Lips Together, Teeth Apart Off-Broadway), it certainly seems like we're having a McNally moment, and his topical works still address our unspoken fears. "The scars of AIDS and homophobia remain very present in our society," he says. "I think homophobia, like racism, is something we have to take long, painful looks at."
