This marks the beginning of the family's civilian lives.

The time has come for Barack and Michelle Obama to leave the White House and hand their keys over to President-Elect Donald Trump. Upsetting as it may be, Obama is ready for some well-deserved relaxation after these 8 long years--so sunny Rancho Mirage, Calif., it is.

Following Friday's inauguration, the Obamas will take the customary helicopter ride from Washington D.C. to Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland, where at 2:45 P.M. they'll board the same plane they've used as Air Force One for 8 years.

Outgoing U.S. Ambassador to Spain, James Costos, and his husband Michael Smith, outgoing interior designer for the White House since 2008, will host the Obamas for the beginning of the family's civilian lives. Costos and Smith are longtime friends to the Obamas and their luxurious Rancho Mirage home has previously hosted the family five times, spreading over eight acres of the Thunderbird Heights gated community.

Unsure as we are of the future, we do know what President Obama is ready for: "I'm not setting my alarm," he told 60 Minutes this weekend. "That I'm certain of--that I am absolutely positive of. I'm going to try to get some sleep."
