Toni Braxton Wants to Play a Lesbian

The singer says she may retire from music, but she wants to continue acting

Singer, songwriter, and actress Toni Braxton doesn't want to commit so much of her time to recording, touring, and making music, she revealed in a recent interview with HipHollywood.com. "I love singing, but I don't know if I'm going to be singing like that anymore," Braxton said. "I'm kind of falling out of love with it.

TheGrio's entertainment editor Chris Witherspoon followed up to confirm, and she said it's true: she doesn't plan to record any more albums, but hopes to focus on acting instead. "For what I do, I have to love it. I have to feel that excitement, and it's gone," Braxton said. "I'm just not going to do any albums anymore; maybe touring occasionally here and there because I love performing, but not as much as I did in the past. But no new projects."

The star of the reality TV show Braxton Family Values can currently be seen in Lifetime's Twist Of Faith, a made-for-TV movie that focuses on a single mother who is the lead singer of a gospel choir and falls in love with a Jewish man. She also acted alongside her 9-year-old autistic son Diesel in the movie.

She seems to have been bitten by the acting bug, and when Witherspoon asked if she had any dream roles, her response seems to say she's not afraid of taking potentially polarizing roles: "I would like to play a lesbian," she said. "I don't know why. And do a whole make-out scene and the whole thing: just something completely different than people would expect from me. Not a lipstick lesbian, either."

Look at Chris Witherspoon's response: "Ooo! All right" he squeals, and nearly falls out of his seat. It's classic.
