Cara Delevingne on Dating Women: 'It's Not a Phase'

Car Delevingne dating women

Actress and model Cara Delevingne isn't afraid to tell it as it is, and that's why we love her. Last month, Delevingne's cover story in Vogue caused uproar from fans and the LGBT community when its writer suggested that her dating both men and women is merely a temporary thing to piss off mom and dad:

“Her parents seem to think girls are just a phase for Cara, and they may be correct," wrote Rob Haskell, the author of the piece, adding that Delevingne's troubled relationship with her mother might be why she dates women. During the interview, he also urges her to learn to “trust men.”

More than 20,000 people signed an online petition asking Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour to apologize on behalf of the magazine.

Delevingne recently weighted in on the controversy:

“My sexuality is not a phase. I am who I am,” she told the New York Times.

Delevingne, who's currently dating musician St Vincent (a.k.a. Annie Clark), and has been linked to actress Michelle Rodriguez in the past, added that there's no bad blood with Vogue, saying that the article was “nothing malicious.”

The model also recently called out the Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott for opposing same-sex marriage while promoting her new movie, Paper Towns, in which she stars opposite Nat Wolff“Tony Abbott, you better listen to the rest of the world and carry on. Go with it,” she said at the Sydney premiere.
