Eurovision Winner Duncan Laurence Announces Engagement to Boyfriend

Eurovision winner

The Dutch singer is marrying his American songwriter Jordan Garfield.

The 2019 Eurovision champion Duncan Laurence revealed on social media he is engaged to his songwriter boyfriend Jordan Garfield. He made the revelation on his Instagram story with a simple photo of an engagement ring on his finger. Garfield left a similar heartfelt announcement on his story as well.

"I love you" Laurence wrote on the black and white photo.

"I am the luckiest man in the world," Garfield wrote in his story. After revealing he was the one who proposed, he went on to say he had "never been so happy" in his life.

The news comes on the heels of the release of Laurence's new single "Last Night" on October 1. He won the international singing/songwriting contest last year with his song "Arcade." He sang then of heartbreak, but he and Garfield were anything but heartbroken when breaking news of their engagement.

The Dutch singer and American songwriter have been an item since the beginning of the year according to reports in the Dutch media, but the pair only confirmed in May they were in a relationship. They met in Los Angeles and their relationship was professional at first, but soon became something more.

"We really got to know each other way better through writing music too because you share stories together in a whole different way and you go really deep into those stories and maybe sometimes you get to express emotions that you wouldn't normally express if it's not in writing a song," Laurence told Eurovision.

Laurence spoke about his bisexuality last year, saying Eurovision gave him the opportunity to show himself to the world not just "as an artist, but also as a human being."

He credited his victory to following his dream, and urged viewers to do the same "always, because dreams come true, they come true, and my dream just came true."

It sounds like a different kind of dream just came true for Garfield, too.

"I'm going to marry a kind, smart, genuine, talented and handsome man," he wrote on his story. "I'm also marrying my best friend."
