Democratic Women Wore White to Trump’s State of the Union

You may have noticed a sea of white in the House Chamber Tuesday night during the State of the Union. More specifically, the white outfits were donned by the Democratic women of the House of Representatives last night -- which now boasts a record 102 female members, between both parties.

Nancy Pelosi, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and out Rep. Sharice Davids, were among the throngs of women lawmakers wearing white.

"Today we stand together wearing white in solidarity with the women of the suffrage movement who refused to take no for an answer," Representative Brenda Lawrence, said according to The Hill. "To an administration that has closed its eyes to women, we will be seen." Meanwhile, the men of the party were handed white ribbons, though Rep. Dean Phillips of Minnesota did wear a white jacket to the State of the Union.

According to The Hill, the House Democratic Women's Working Group also asked women members of the Republican Party to wear white.

This harkens back to previous group fashion statements, including last year's address, in which the women Democrats wore black. It also harkens back to Hillary Clinton wearing white to Trump's inauguration, which was also considered a sign of feminist solidarity, on the eve of the first Women's March.

Senators didn't wear white. Oddly enough, Trump's daughter Tiffany did. Maybe she didn't get the memo -- or then again, maybe she did?
