"National security must never again be permitted to justify wholesale denial of constitutional rights and protections," Takei wrote in an op-ed for The Washington Post.
"In times like these we must reaffirm the values we cherish and have fought for: equality, justice, the care of our planet," Takei wrote to his social media followers on Election Day.
Takei, who played Sulu in the original Star Trek films, feels that the choice to make the modern iteration of the character gay was a bit of a cop-out.
