Catching Up With Casey Spooner

Photo: Job Piston

Casey Spooner, one half of famed fizzy electro duo Fischerspooner, is breaking out on his own -- at least for a spell -- and today he releases his debut solo album, Adult Contemporary.

The songs, which Spooner calls some of his most emotionally raw to date, allowed the singer-songwriter to show off his rockier side and couldn't be more different from the dancey electronic offerings of Fischerspooner.

Spooner recently dropped by the Out studio to chat about his childhood musical influences, which include Oscar the Grouch, Michael Jackson, and Soul Train, why he decided to make a solo album, and the sexy NSFW video he made for the album's first single "Spanish Teenager":

Pick up Adult Contemporary, in stores today, or download it on iTunes. For more info on Casey Spooner, visit his official website and follow him on Twitter.
