Each season, Pitti Immagine, a Florence-based company that runs numerous high-profile fashion events, chooses a women's and men's collection to highlight during Fashion Week. This year, the company has looked to the West for inspiration, focusing on two emerging but already influential brands: Scott Sternberg's Band of Outsiders (left) and sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy's line Rodarte. It's a bit of a cliché -- but it's also true -- that the fashion industry is notorious for copying itself. Season after season, designers look to the past to help inspire their future endeavors. So why should fashion news coverage be expected to do otherwise? Frankly, it shouldn't and it doesn't.

As you know, we've been thinking a lot about our favorite ladies lately. And of course, Stefani Joanna Angelina Germanotta is quickly becoming one of the gals who consistently tops that list. No, that's not the latest cast member to join Jersey Shore, it's the birth name of dear old Lady Gaga. We use the term "old" loosely since the ripe singer turns 25 today.

Lots of stuff happened last week, didn't you hear? Let's take a quick moment to welcome new friends (Rachel Zoe's baby) and say good-bye to others (RIP Liz Taylor). 

Rachel Zoe, who was recently crowned highest-paid celebrity stylist, has another reason to celebrate. She and her husband welcomed a baby boy to their clan last week, naming him Skyler Morrison Berman. Get that kid a Twitter account, pronto!
