Truman Says

Editor, stylist, friend-of-Gaga and all-around fashion influencer Nicola Formichetti (not to brag, but we did predict this) is getting ready to unveil his sophomore men's collection as creative director of Mugler, the newest iteration of the infamous brand originally founded by Thierry Mugler.

What did Raf Simons have up his sleeve for Jil Sander? Our fashion editor Brent Coover weighs in:

"Jil Sander was really dark and heavy for a spring collection, filled with punk and grunge references. The chunky, multi-colored cropped knits were gorgeous and shown with lots of PVC outerwear. The accessories were killer -- adore the python chest pouches and heavy boots and the models were sporting crazy slick, gelled hair over their faces."

"Grant [Woolhead, Out's fashion director] and I literally want everything...the rust pants are to die for. I, naturally, want the jewelry."

Out's fashion editor Brent Coover may be running around Milan like a madman, but he's made time to fire off some thoughts about the men's spring 2012 shows. So what did he think about Dolce & Gabbana's latest?

"Dolce stayed within their comfort zone, no big suprises there. A lot of netting, lattice and mesh for the casual looks -- it reminded me of Prada's spring 2010 collection. David Gandy walked the show -- that man just keeps on going, for better or for worse. Lots of black and white -- quelle surprise."

Fresh from the lips of our fashion editor Brent Coover, we bring you our thoughts on the runway looks from spring 2012. So what did Brent think of Ermenegildo Zegna?

"Zegna was, expectedly, classic and beautiful. They lightened up their suiting by crafting them in silk, giving them a glossy, lustrous quality. Oh! We live for the muted, pastel tones -- they were utterly gorge. As a side note, who did the casting? Delicious boys always make for a great show!"

Fresh from the lips of our fashion editor Brent Coover, we bring you our thoughts on the runway looks from spring 2012. First up is Burberry

"Burberry had very quirky quality reminiscent of Marni, which is a departure for such a traditional brand. A lot of grunge influences -- the knits were lovely and the outerwear was superb, as always. Loving the strong prints and colors -- there was a pair of navy ikat-print pants we must have -- and the use of mustard was divine. Overall, fun and beautiful."

Let the games begin, kiddies. Men's Fashion Week has officially commenced and it started off with a bang (or Band, rather) with a collection courtesy of our personal geek-chic crush Scott Sternberg's label Band of Outsiders. The designer was the featured guest for this season's Pitti Uomo, bringing a dose of classic Americana to Italy.
