New Yorkers battened their hatches and stocked up on Vodka and Cheez Its this weekend in preparation for the evil monster that is/was Hurricane Irene. Sadly, she arrived with a whimpering sigh instead of a thunderous fanfare and spittled her vengeance upon the cynical residents of the Tri-state area. Damage was minimal and since the storm took place mostly on Saturday night, no one missed work, sadly. All seemed right with the world come Monday morning.

For our September issue, available on newsstands now, we were feeling especially musically inclined. So much so that all three of our fall fashion stories are, in some way, centered around some of our favorite bands. First up are the mods, but with a slightly Eastern spin. Featuring labels like Versace, Prada, Kenneth Cole and Raf Simons, we look back on their graphically enticing visual appeal and how that its influence is still felt today.

The Sartorialist is seeking a full-time second assistant for Scott Schuman.

The second assistant will work closely with Scott’s current assistant to manage the studio, the blog, and Scott’s travel and projects.  Prior experience as an assistant or in the fashion industry is not required, but will be highly valued.
