With the heat at all time highs, the sudden death of Amy Winehouse (and subsequent reactions via Facebook and Twitter!) and New York State's legalization of gay marriage, we've been on an emotional roller coaster since Friday. New York City, in terms of history, is a young fashion capitol. While we may lack a lengthy narrative and renowned houses with centuries of archives, we certainly have cast a world-wide influence that, on a good season, rivals even the storied labels of Europe. But things were not always like this...not by a long shot.

It's odd but the latest media trend -- and yes, we realize this is nothing new and has been said before -- is to find some budding, new, talent --someone who has the potential and talent to be a huge success in their field of choice -- and then create a fevered buzz around them only to then turn their back on them and point out each and every misstep they make -- just for the sake of having news, it would seem. We've seen this kind of backlash before, but now the tsk-tsking is focused on Nicola Formichetti.

Um, it looks like Robert Pattinson's barber may-or-may-not have been on mushrooms (the fun kind) when he crafted this mess.

David Beckham is launching a fragrance in September, aptly titled David Beckham Homme. Hey, somebody's gotta pay for his little lady's clothing.
