Marc by Marc Jacobs to Be Discontinued

Marc Jacobs is cleaning house. A little over a year after the mercurial designer left Louis Vuitton to focus on his eponymous brand, sources claim the offspring label Marc by Marc Jacobs will be shuttered to make way for daddy.

According to Women's Wear Daily, the new Marc Jacobs will "encompass a range of merchandise and price points currently divided between the two lines, from luxury to contemporary." The idea behind the move is "not to lessen the product range, but to unify all products with a clarity of voice and aesthetic, and ultimately, to expand the product offerings."

So you know what that means. Clearance sale on all Marc by Marc Jacobs, kids!

At a more accessible price, the diffusion line often provided more highlights than its umbrella label, and better yet, you didn't have to pretend that you liked it just to seem cool in front of Anna Wintour.
