Dan Troim Reinvents Tel Aviv

Dan Troim compares his design philosophy to a red dot in a simple white space. "It creates a strong, dramatic emotion with a minimal action," says the architect, who leads the regeneration of Tel Aviv's vibrant Neve Tzedek neighborhood. Favoring raw materials -- predominantly concrete and wood -- Troim complements the stark, clean lines of the city's Bauhaus architecture. Color is used sparingly, if at all, and his furniture -- like his striking Designer's Chair made of walnut (below) -- is sturdy and elegant. It's what Troim describes as "Art Deco, Tel Aviv style."
