Last weekend was absolutely crazy!
I celebrated San Diego Pride with some great friends and had a weekend that I won't soon forget. If you've never been to San Diego Pride, I recommend making plans to go for 2013. It's one of the best celebrations I've been to.

This weekend, in San Francisco, we celebrate Up Your Alley or Dore Alley Street Fair. The biggest leather and fetish event around. It's crazy and definitely a spectacle to see. It's not for the squeamish or anyone uncomfortable with the extreme.

This weekend also brings some great parties. Here's where you're likely to find me and a host of the hottest DORE men!

Bay of Pigs
Official Saturday night event of Up Your Alley weekend and the weekend's hottest fetish party.
Saturday, July 28, 2012 10pm - 4:00am
525 Harrison St.
Featuring:
DJ Russ Rich and DJ Phil B.
Sexy dancers, demos, play spaces galore.

Industry
Saturday, July 28, 2012 10pm - 4:00am
BeatBox, 314 11th St.
Featuring:
DJ Luke Johnstone and DJ Manny Lehman.

PLAY
Official Up Your Alley T-Dance & Closing Party
Sunday, July 29th, 5pm till midnight
Mezzanine, 444 Jessie St.
Featuring:
DJ Craig Gaibler

Finally, I'd like to take a moment to recognize Joshua J and Stallion Saturdays at Rebel.
This Saturday is going to be the final Stallion with it's Horse Hung Go-Go Studs and SF is sad to see it go.
One good thing about San Francisco is that it always provides everyone with something to do, no matter what their tastes and Stallion definitely has it's loyalists. It brought something new to Saturday nights in San Francisco and inspired other people, like myself, to challenge the norm.
Stallion had a great run and it leaves room for something new and creative to come. Great Job, Joshua J, enjoy your time off and we look forward to seeing what you have up your sleeves next. ;-)

The Final Stallion Saturdays
Saturday, July 28th, 9pm till 4AM
Rebel, 1760 Market St.
Featuring:
DJ Joey Jinks, DJ James Torres and DJ Cuervo

This week has been absolutely crazy! I swear that San Francisco never sleeps and even getting away for a weekend doesn't generally offer much rest.

This weekend, I'll be heading down to San Diego Pride and celebrating as Hillcrest raises its Rainbow Flag on Friday. Saturday and Sunday will see me testing the limits of how much sleep one really needs, once again, as I try to do every party that's going on until Monday morning.

If you've never done a circuit weekend, you really should, at least once. It's not just about the crazy parties, lack of sleep, amazingly hot guys or all the other things that go into it. It really is this amazing family that is composed of people from all over the country, sometimes world. We get together, we party, we love, we dance our asses off to good music and for each of those weekends nothing else matters. We're celebrating US!

It makes me appreciate the friends and family I constantly have around me. It gives me a chance to realize how lucky I am.

So here's my challenge. Take a minute this weekend, no matter where you are and just find a moment to express to someone how much they mean to you. Don't assume that they know and don't assume that someone else will tell them, just do it!

While you're doing that remember to go out and have as much fun as possible. My motto has always been "Live every day as thought it's your last, and every moment as though you'll never die!" Find a party, find and event or just find a group of friends and do something unexpected.

Everyone take care of my San Framily while I'm gone and I'll see you on a dance floor next weekend.

Love and Hugs
Locoya

You know, writing a weekly blog isn't as easy as I thought it'd be. Sure, I could easily just throw out the names of some parties and be done with it. But, I think if I'm going to have a few of months of making a statement then I should make it worth hearing.

This week we celebrate Independence in the USA. 236 years of "independence" to be exact. Living in the "Land of the Free" and "Home of the Brave" it's hard to believe that the term "equal rights" is still something we haven't figured out yet.
I know that we constantly are involved in the civil rights battle of The LGBT Community. But, let's not forget the privileges we do have and the punishments we do not face. As we celebrate the 4th of July this year, I know that it's easy to focus on how far we have to go in our battle but don't forget that we've covered so much ground. Take PRIDE in where we are and remember that, in time, good things do come! Just stand strong and fight the good fight!
So, here's what's on tap for this weekend, a way to celebrate all of the amazing things that our community brings to San Francisco.

PRIDE WEEKEND RECAP!

Last weekend was Pride Weekend in San Francisco and I'm not sure how we made it out alive. My friends and I had resigned ourselves to the idea that sleep was not a necessity but partying was! It started on Wednesday and ended Monday morning. This was not a weekend for the faint of heart but those have survived will have stories to tell for decades!

Roast of Sister Roma, SF Pride Parade Community Grand Marshal

Sister Roma is one of my dearest friends but also one of our communities most vocal activists. The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence honored her 25 years of service with a great roast. June 20th was declared Sister Roma Day in SF as she was presented the honor by SF Supervisor Scott Weiner. To top off the night, The SPD honored BeBe Sweetbriar and Michael Youens by "sainting" them, one of their highest civilian honors. This was truly a night in which our community shared pride. Congratulations to all 3 deserving community leaders.

GUS PRESENTS UNDERWORLD - DJ Pornstar and DJ Grind

10PM-6AM! San Francisco's most popular underwear party. Yep, I said underwear party. Hundreds of guys from every walk of life. We love it when the hot visitors come and party in their skivvies. It was great to have an event that featured nationally known talent that had their beginnings in SF.

LOCOYA'S 5th ANNUAL PINK PARTY PRE-PARTY - DJ Haute Toddy and DJ Frank Wild

My 6PM-10PM house party tradition continued and was even better this year. The one time of year where everyone is invited to party at my home along with SF's most social personalities! Haute Toddy started off the night with a killer 2 hour set and then I brought in Frank Wild who just knows how to drop the beats. People didn't want to leave . . . but I had place to go. There's a reason it's called a Pre-Party.

BEATBOX 1st ANNIVERSARY PARTY - DJ Sherwood and DJ Tristan Jaxx

BeatBox had a night of great music, friends, exciting performances, and plenty of FUN surprises. I was happy to help them celebrate by making a surprise midnight appearance along with Mercedez Munro as she performed our namesake song "I Just Wanna F*ckin Dance." The crowd loved it and the confetti cannons were just what they needed to dial the energy up a notch. Congratulations BeatBox! Great job to DJ Steve Sherwood and DJ Tristan Jaxx!

GUS PRESENTS COLOSSUS PRIDE WEEKEND - DJ Luke Johnstone and DJ Theresa

This was the beginning of the end of the night. DJ's Luke Johnstone and Theresa were absolutely flawless. So much so that when it came time to leave at 6AM we weren't sure what to do with ourselves. So, we headed over toThe End Up. I finally made it home around 9:30AM. Now THAT's a night of partying, 6:00PM to 9:30AM, non-stop!

Sunday, June 124, 2012 (This will be the day/night/morning that kills us)

Juanita More Pride Party 2012 - Performances by Kim Ann Foxman, House of Stank, Stay Gold, Honey Soundsystem, Sparber, The Cougar Cadet Drum Corps, Lost Angels. This was the hottest Sunday daytime party in San Francisco! Juanita More brought it hard and so did her entourage. People - get your tickets in advance next year!

HERO - MOTO BLANCO AND FREEMASONS

Pride's biggest tea dance celebration was at Ruby Sky featuring one of the biggest DJ lineups they've ever brought together! Both MOTO BLANCO and FREEMASONS took us on a musical journey with their uplifting club sounds and dance floor anthems. It was packed downstairs and upstairs with gorgeous boys, fabulous queens and the best of SF royalty. Congratulations to Luke Johnstone and Jamie J. Sanchez for such an amazing event!

SANCTUARY SF PRIDE WEEKEND - DJ PAULO with DJ Lee Decker

I'm just going to say it. Everyone was thinking it. DJ Lee Decker turned. it. OUT! I've been a fan for quite sometime but I've never heard such a great set from him. If anyone doubted that he was the right person to open for DJ PAULO, they were left with their jaws on the ground when they heard Lee's set. PAULO, as always, was amazing. The energy that he brought to the crowd was out of this world and you could tell because there were 3 dance floors all packed full of people. FLAVA performed at 2AM and she was flawless. Her performance of "Pride (Deeper Love)" was everything that you'd expect from her.

Overall, I'm glad I decided to stay home for SF Pride 2012. It's hard when your options are SF, NYC or Chicago all on the same weekend. However, when it comes down to it, all you have to remember is that THIS is the the place that keeps that amazing rainbow flag flying all year long and is truly the gayest place on Earth! Happy Pride Month everyone.

June 21, 2012

It's Pride Weekend in San Francisco and I'm not sure we're all going to make it out alive.

There is SO much going on this weekend and honestly, I'm not sure how to choose the right balance.

My friends and I have pretty much resigned ourselves to the idea that sleep is not a necessity but partying is! It starts Wednesday and ends Monday morning. So, I hope you load up on all the essential recovery vitamins.

Things to help you live after the Gayest Place on Earth kicks it up even harder:

1) Multivitamins - let's be honest, no one's eating much this weekend.

2) Vitamin B-12 - your brain will never be the same. Give it a little help!

3) Fish Oil - yep, something else for your brain. Let's admit it, it's going to be near death.

4) Vitamin D - 5 days of running from daylight and living in darkness depletes all that you have.

5) 5-HTP - only because I hear that Serotonin makes you happy.

Now, I tend to make my friends do this ritual before we go out each night and between parties. It's preventive AND restorative! Just trust me. :-)

So with that said, here's what I'll be doing this weekend. It's not for the faint of heart but it is for everyone who wants to experience SF Pride at it's fullest!
