1. What are the three golden rules for throwing a great party?
Make every event the biggest party of the century, whether it's Gay Pride or... Wednesday. Have a fabulous line-up, whether DJs, bands, drag queens, bartenders, or go-go dancers. And make sure your guests are drinking a lot.
2. What's the biggest no-no?
Giving your guests anything less than a good time. Nobody needs a Debbie Downer or tired club drama.
3. Madonna or Gaga?
I will have to say... Beth Ditto. She's a female songstress our community should be gagging over.
4. What's the first record you ever bought?
Guns N' Roses' Appetite for Destruction.
5. What dance track is a guaranteed crowd pleaser this summer?
The Kevin Graves remix of Adele's "Rolling in the Deep."
6. What time does your day start, and how?
Not sure where days start or nights end anymore. I usually work from bed for a good hour before making any sudden moves.
7. What are you doing for Pride?
I've never been as excited for Pride as I am this year. Friday June 24th marks the return of MR, the 4th annual Mustache-themed Pride kick-off party I produce. Then, Saturday June 25th is a double header for me, with Stallion Saturdays and Big Top vs Trannyshack, which I'm throwing with my longtime friend Heklina. Sunday June 26th, I am proud to be a sponsor of Juanita More!'s annual Pride party. I'll be off work, enjoying the party, the people, and the pool.
8. What's the single most ridiculous thing that's happened to you while on the job?
It's a toss-up between Britney coming to the party I threw after her Good Morning America concert last month, or doing tequila shots with Ke$ha at Booty Call Wednesdays.
9. What advice would you give to someone who wants to break into party promotion?
Be ready for a lot of work, the majority of which happens six to eight weeks prior to the event.
10. How do you spend your down time?
Chilling at home in my Castro Garden studio apartment, enjoying candles and my pug, Maverick. Very Martha Stewart, but very true.
11. What's the can't-miss event of Summer 2011?
The buzz right now is all about Jake Shears of Scissor Sisters DJing at my party, Booty Call Wednesdays.
12. What's the strangest swag you've ever received?
Just this week I was given a rare vintage talking Pee-Wee Herman doll, which I thought was pretty cool.
