This past Friday, DJ Enferno (from Madonna's Sticky & Sweet Tour) was amazing. Emerging pop star Eva performed with her hot back-up dancers, and the crowd went wild! Many of Britney Spears's dancers came to play after they finished their New Jersey concert earlier that evening. The highlight of the night was around 3am, when DJ Enferno put "Last Dance" by Donna Summer on a 10min loop and the place came to a standstill watching all the Drag Queens try to outdo each other onstage!

FV Events partnered with GLAAD to produce this year's 'GLAAD Manhattan' fundraiser. This year's event was entitled "Carnival" and had a Brazilian theme. Guests included Lance Bass, Real Housewives of New York's Kelly Killoren Bensimon, Alex McCord with hubby Simon, Sonja Morgan and Ramona Singer, Simon Doonan, Jonathan Adler, Phillip Bloch, America's Next Top Model's Isis King, Project Runway's Malan Breton and Kevin Christina, the cast of The A-List and Rupaul's Drag Race, as well Randy Jones of the Village People. Later, the crowd went wild for special guest, comedian Lisa Lampanelli. Shontell closed the evening with her hit songs 'T-Shirt' and 'Impossible.' It was a wonderful event that raised considerable funds for GLAAD's important work.

After multiple cancelations and postponements due to immigration issues, the Kazaky boys finally made it to New York for their highly anticipated U.S. debut. Kazaky fans we're out in force despite the sweltering summer heat, and the line to get inside stretched down 57th Street all the way to 8th Avenue. The club was at capacity by midnight, with fans running around in high heels in tribute to the Internet sensation. Kazaky took to a custom-built stage just before 1AM and performed all three of their hit singles, paying homage to the Big M with a perfectly choreographed version of 'Vogue.' The show was complete with special effects, visuals and multiple costume changes. The cast of Priscilla: Queen of the Desert, a couple members of The Pussycat Dolls and several cast members from So You Think You Can Dance came to check out Kazaky's moves. Certainly one of our favorite nights!

Pride Weekend June 24th - 26th
FV Events had our biggest pride in history, packing four incredible events into one amazing weekend. We kicked off pride weekend Friday night at ROCKIT shortly after the incredible news about legalizing same-sex marriage in New York. The room was abuzz with people celebrating the start of a monumental Pride weekend. We had three great performances including Emii singing her new billboard single 'Lil Romeo' featuring Snoop Dog and the amazing Houserobics guru, Cheri Lily. ROCKIT's resident drag queens, Epiphany & Ebonee Excel, also took to the stage to perform Olivia Newton-John's "Physical" as a prelude to Olivia's live performance the next night at our Bondi Beach party.
After grabbing just a couple hours sleep, we woke up early Saturday morning to soundcheck Olivia Newton-John on Governor's Island. The Island is open to the public during the day, so the tourists got a pretty big surprise when Olivia popped on stage in the middle of their lunch. If the tourist reaction was any indication as to what was coming later that evening, we knew we had a huge night in store for us. We had a custom stage designed specifically for the event with giant palm trees suspended mid-air in white boat rope and oversize surf boards hanging as the backdrop. We projected incredible visuals of beaches, surfing, and famous Australian sites onto the stage throughout the night. Montreal's DJ Hector Romero started the party off under perfectly clear skies. As the sun began to set, Italy's DJ Phil Romano took over and Olivia arrived on a private boat after meeting with press on the Manhattan side. At 10pm Olivia greeted the crowds with an amazing speech regarding gay marriage and equality and opened with a hot dance remix of her classic "Xanadu." She followed up with "Physical," performing with a troop of half naked men on stage. She spoke again about how pleased she was to celebrate with us on this very important Pride and concluded with her new remix of "Magic," which is exactly what the night was.
Immediately after Bondi Beach, we headed back to the city with boatloads of men to continue the celebration. The club was already packed upon arrival around midnight. Lines grew around the block with crowds waiting to hear DJ Manny Lehman and catch Candice Cayne's first New York performance in years. The club was at capacity until the lights came on at 5AM.
Gay Pride Sunday was the final event of our marathon weekend. As the crowds gathered on the roof top of where we held the event, they were in absolute awe of the views and the space itself. DJ Whitney Day spun while parade revelers relaxed with pitchers of sangria on the outdoor terrace. Among the many there were most the cast from A-List, drags from Rupaul's Drag Race, loads of hot boys and performers from everywhere. Candis Cayne came back for an encore performance and treated the crowd to many of her classic New York numbers. The boys were on their feet and gave Candis a warm welcome home. After Candis performed, the pool downstairs opened and boys filled both the roof and pool until the event concluded at 9PM.
The weekend was a huge success and we are so thankful for all the love and support from everyone involved and attended. Best Pride ever!!

FV Events has a big weekend coming up. This Friday June 10th, the newly revamped basement of Rockit opens up with the new boys only party, CockPit. Complete with a discretionary door policy, erotic dancers and dirty acts... you really will have to see this one to believe it. DJ David Serrano spins the CockPit's inaugural night. Upstairs at Rockit, girls are still welcome to jam with the boys to the beats of DJ PS1. This Saturday, June 12, is shaping up to be one of the most buzzed about nights in recent NYC nightlife history. Hip Hop icon Lil' Kim is joining forces with nightlife icon Amanda Lepore to a performance together on the Club 57 stage. Apparently Lil' Kim used to jam out to Amanda's tunes while behind bars back in 2005 (this is entirely serious) and is excited to join her on the Club 57 stage. DJs Escape, Keo Nozari and Oficial will be on hand for the celebration. Looking even further ahead, FV Events announced that Australian musical legend Olivia Newton-John will be headlining our Australian-themed Pride bash on Governor's Island. More details on that to come.

Despite the mass exodus to Fire Island, the boys remaining in NYC were eager to kick-off the summer season and packed Rockit to capacity last Friday. It was also the Rockit debut of DJ Moto Blanco, who is widely known for his production work and house music. Moto Blanco mentors our friend and resident DJ Corey Craig who, for a change, schooled Moto Blanco on the Rockit vibe. Moto changed direction for the night with an amazing set of vocals and pop remixes the Rockit crowd is accustomed to. A highlight was his unreleased remix of 'Father Figure' by George Michael. He closed the set out with an amazing flashback to the days of disco with Odyssey's 1977 classic, "Native New Yorker." It was pure magic.
The fun continued Saturday night at Club 57 where the crowd celebrated the return of Fire Island favorite DJ Twisted Dee. The crowd was so hot. In the lounge, Amanda Lepore could be spotted in the corner posing for photographer Marco Ovando. Pedro Andrade of NBC Universal with a eclectic crowd of fashionistas were seated nearby sipping cocktails at their table. Back in the main room a sea of shirtless muscle boys danced the night away to the house beats of Twisted Dee. Downstairs Ebonee Excell performed a Cecilia Cruz classic for a crowd of adoring latino fans.
Next Saturday, June 11th, we're pleased to announce the return of Lil' Kim after her highly successful performance at Rockit last winter. Lil' Kim performed 'Black Friday' (the Nicki Minaj dis) and treated the crowd to her hits 'Lighters Up,' 'Magic Stick' and 'How Many Licks.' This time, she's back for an encore performance at Club 57 but with a unique twist. She will also be performing with Club 57 host and nightlife icon Amanda Lepore. The two icons share a unique bond as Kim apparently fell in love with Amanda's music during her stint behind bars back in 2005.
Stay tuned for an announcement of our Gay Pride events that include a performance by pop icon Olivia Newton-John and the New York return of the infamous Candis Cayne. Check out our website www.fvevents.com.

Ehipassiko,Your argument has more holes than a whauroese full of colanders.I have seen the pilot — have you? — and, for all it's abundant shortcomings, it does not even begin to repackage negative stereotypes about trans experience. Your assertion that it was absolutely designed to do so is preposterous and shows that you have a remarkable inability to grasp the obvious motives of both a show's creators and the network that bafflingly chose to air it. And speaking of fallacious comparisons your claim that the real parallel here is to minstrel shows is equally wrong. White entertainers once wore blackface in order to caricature and mock negroes (though many would have claimed the mocking condescension was to some degree affectionate). The cross-dressers in Work It are not mocking women, nor is the show. Like Bosom Buddies before it (a silly but likable show that Work It makes look like Moliere), what's mostly being sent up is how bad the men are at pretending to be women. This, as a previous poster noted, is the show's most painful flaw. Unlike in, say Tootsie, the cross-dressers are so utterly inept that you can't for an instant believe that anyone is fooled — let alone that their co-workers will continue to be hoodwinked for a full season's worth of episodes, let alone the multiple years the show would need to run before its studio turned a profit. (To this extent the show does in fact mock women, though not in the way you'd claim, by showing them strangely incapable of recognizing a man in a dress when they see one.) And what exactly are the negative stereotypes about trans people that you feel the show is enforcing? Most negativity about trans people stems from the bigoted belief that everyone should stay whichever sex God made them. Or do you find it prejudicial to believe that a certain male-to-female transexuals retain a somewhat mannish appearance? This is not a stereotype, it is a fact, and one that even films that are completely pro-trans have dramatized. (Think of Tom Wilkinson's terrific performance in HBO's Normal. ) But films and shows that are about actual transexuals have nothing to do with silly comedies about straight guys donning dresses for various artfully or ineptly contrived reasons. In the future please think twice before declaring anyone else unfit to offer a valid opinion.
