Radio Host Demands LGBTQ Community Returns Rainbow Flag to God

Bryan Fischer calls creator Gilbert Baker's rainbow flag the "worst example of cultural appropriation ever."

Bryan Fischer, host of talk radio program Focal Point on American Family Radio, made some curious allegations over the weekend regarding the LGBTQ rainbow flag. Citing the Bible passage Genesis 9:11-17, he called the flag the "worst example of cultural appropriation ever," and demanded the queer community "give it back" to its rightful inventor, God. "It's his," Fischer wrote. "He invented it."

The host's polarizing declaration follows news of 65-year-old Gilbert Baker's death last week in New York. Though Fischer would argue otherwise, Baker is credited for inventing the iconic rainbow flag, which first debuted in June 1978 for the San Francisco Gay Freedom Day Parade.
